Job Description: Swing Shift Lead
Department: Warehouse Operations
Shift: Swing Shift (mid-afternoon to late evening)
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Operations Manager
Position Summary:
The Swing Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing key warehouse activities during the swing shift, with a focus on replenishment, inbound putaway and consolidation, and cycle counting. This role serves as the on-floor point of contact during the shift, ensuring work is completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with company standards while providing guidance and direction to team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Replenishment:
• Execute replenishment tasks to ensure pick locations remain stocked to meet outbound demand
• Monitor pick faces for shortages or low inventory
• Remove wrap during replenishment to minimize picker downtime and maintain productivity
• Verify accuracy of replenishment moves within the WMS
Inbound Putaway & Consolidation:
• Direct and perform inbound putaway of received product to appropriate storage locations
• Consolidate inventory where applicable to optimize space utilization and slotting efficiency
• Ensure proper location accuracy (WMS), pallet integrity, and product accuracy (Pallet ID matches physical goods on each pallet).
• Review reports provided by the supervisor to optimize space in anticipation of product arrival.
• Ensure that the inbound dock is clear daily for the following day’s container unloads.
• Receive, check in and put away inbound transfer loads.
Cycle Counting & Inventory Accuracy:
• Perform cycle counts as assigned and investigate variances
• Research discrepancies using WMS data, physical checks, and location audits
• Communicate recurring inventory issues to supervision for corrective action
• Support overall inventory accuracy initiatives and audit readiness
Leadership & Shift Support:
• Act as the lead contact for swing shift operations in the absence of management
• Assign work, set priorities, and provide direction to warehouse associates
• Monitor workflow and labor allocation to ensure shift objectives are met
• Lead by example in safety, accuracy, and productivity
• Assist with onboarding and training of new team members as needed
Safety & Compliance:
• Enforce safe work practices and proper equipment usage (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
• Maintain clean, organized work areas throughout the shift
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment issues promptly
Qualifications:
• Prior warehouse experience required; lead or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of replenishment, putaway, and inventory control processes
• Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (stand-up and/or sit-down forklifts preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead and communicate effectively with team members
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
Preferred Skills:
• Cycle counting and inventory reconciliation experience
• Familiarity with slotting and consolidation strategies
• Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions during off-peak hours
Pay Range: $20 - $23 / hr *Eligible for company paid benefits (health, vision and dental insurance) after 90 days! PTO and Paid Holidays
