    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Housing Coordinator/Area Coordinator is a full-time 12 month live-in professional staff member responsible for creating a residential environment which supports learning, builds community, respects diversity, promotes environmental citizenship, enhances wellness, and encourages responsibility. Regular evening and weekend hours required. On call responsibilities are also a component of this position.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    STUDENT HOUSING

    • Maintain student housing and meal plan records within the Jenzabar database.
    • Organize the housing selection process in Fall, Spring, and Summer of each year.
    • Assign students to available rooms throughout the academic year based on students' preferences.
    • Ensure the move in, move out, and room change processes are designed to run smoothly and are completed with the highest level of customer service possible.  
    • Train Residence Life staff in a variety of topics related to housing procedures.
    • Compile occupancy and room change tracking reports for other offices on campus.
    • Communicate with other offices on housing and meal related matters such as adding charges to student accounts, move in and move out plans, etc.
    • Respond to all housing email and phone inquiries within a timely manner, 24 hours for email, 48 hours for phone.
    • A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable educational living environment for college students.

    SUPERVISION OF A RESIDENTIAL AREA

    • Oversee a residential community of approximately 200 students.

    • Supervise undergraduate Residence Life staff members including: coordinating fall and winter trainings, crew meetings, one on one meetings, approving time cards, attending Work Program trainings, and holding student staff accountable to programming, administrative, and duty responsibilities. 

    • Oversee the day-to-day administration and facility operation needs of the area including: work order follow up, addressing community concerns, keeping accurate occupancy records and facilitating room changes, coordinating health and safety inspections, managing early arrival and late stay requests, and billing students for damages, lock changes, etc.

    • Assist RAs in theme community implementation within assigned residential area.

    • Serve as a conduct officer for residential students, including cases of recidivism.

    • Mediate conflict between students.

    • Advise students and connect them to other campus resources as needed.

    • Provide crisis management and support through an emergency on-call rotation.

    • Serve on campus-wide committees to support the needs of residential students on campus.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master's degree required. Degrees in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or other related field preferred.
    • Prior student housing experience is required. Candidates with residence life/housing experience as well will be given priority.
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to work independently with excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
