Warren Wilson College welcomes applicants for a faculty position in History. This is a full-time, junior-level position in an extended contract system with a 3-3 load beginning in August of 2022. We are seeking a dynamic teacher-scholar whose work highlights transnational, international, comparative, and/or world perspectives. The successful applicant will teach introductory survey courses in world histories, upper level courses in the histories of at least one other world region such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American, and/or Middle East, and have the opportunity to develop other courses in the candidate's area of specialization.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

While the successful applicant will teach courses in world histories and specialize in at least one world region, the Department is open to expertise on all themes, including (but not exclusively) intellectual history, histories of race, gender, and sexuality, and international and/or comparative politics. In addition, faculty have opportunities to teach study-away courses, summer courses, and first-year seminars. Successful candidates will foster meaningful mentoring relationships with students; create interdisciplinary, experiential, and/or applied learning opportunities; contribute to the life of the Department and the College; and maintain a productive research agenda.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in History, or related field. ABD will be considered.  
• One to two years of teaching experience. 
• Teaching experience specializing in at least one world region such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American, and/or Middle East
• Exhibited commitment to professional growth and scholarship. 
• Demonstrated experience with advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in learning spaces. For instance, experience incorporating inclusive teaching modalities and working with diverse student populations (e.g., racial/ethnic, income, immigration status, sexual orientation/gender identification, etc.).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Two or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level;
• Evidence of interdisciplinary, experiential, and/or applied learning pedagogies.
• Teaching experience specializing in two or more world regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American, and/or Middle East
