Web Developer (Part-time)

The Web Developer is responsible for the design, development, and support of multiple internal and external websites and will be a key member of our team providing front-end development expertise. They will be responsible for understanding and documenting user requirements and designs, to implement high quality websites that are responsive and easy to maintain. The successful candidate is a lifelong learner that can start with a clean slate and have the patience to work with older/legacy code. They should be excited about innovating while focusing on stable and maintainable code. The responsibilities will include equal parts front-end and back-end web development utilizing technologies such as modern JavaScript frameworks, HTML, CSS and Python (or equivalent). This individual will work in close coordination with various Smartronix internal teams (to include developers, graphic artists and marketing personnel).

Description/Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other developers on the various layers of the application’s architecture and infrastructure
• Balance quality and responsiveness of applications within a fast-paced delivery cycle.
• Ideate with other developers to debug and resolve issues and design new features.
• Maintain code integrity and organization, optimization, and performance.
• Must be able to document requirement specifications, articulate ideas, and communicate with others in a clear way.
• Participate in regular unit testing, integration testing, smoke testing, and deployments with the team.
• Plan the activities and resource requirements of own portion of the project.
• Manage the migration/rehosting of websites from one environment to another while employing best security practices.
• Focus on the delivery of short-term results, while aligning to the long-term objectives of the overall project plan.

Required Skills and Experience:

• At least 2 years of related experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Design, or equivalent
• Experience working with visual designers and converting prototypes to web elements
• Understanding of security implementation and data protection
• Inspecting HTTP network requests and responses
• Experience with front-end and back-end web development
• Experience with various website platforms
• Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction/user experience
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping
• Experience with SEO is a plus
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
