    The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal, Civilian, and International markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

    NATO HQ SACT's Innovation Lab (iHub), built on the concept of Open Innovation, is providing to its operational customers a catalogue of innovative products and services. The iHub products, also known as Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), are developed following best industry, Agile DevSecOps methods with strong focus on rapid, iterative delivery that meets customers’ requirements.

    Our client has an immediate need for a UI/UX Designer to support HQ SACT's Innovation Hub onsite in Norfolk, VA.

    Responsibilities:

    The onsite UI/UX Designer will gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with Product Managers and Programmers Innovation Hub Laboratory Capability. The successful candidate will serve as an advisor to the Product Manager and Product Owner on product backlog prioritization. Will determine information architectures, create sitemaps, and illustrate those ideas using storyboards and process flow diagrams. Create and design graphic user interface elements, build page navigation elements, and develop UI mock-ups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look. The successful candidate will identify and troubleshoot UX problems and conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback. Apply experience in conducting usabiltity testing, develop task flows and wire frames, create artwork for Minimal Viable Products, and create user training artifacts in print or short videos.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Human Factors, Human Centered Design and Engineering, or related discipline; OR 5 years’ experience as a UI/UX Designer
    • Strong experience in the development of artifacts such as sketches, prototypes, high-fidelity mock-ups, motion design, and project documentation
    • Proficient in a variety of design and prototyping tools — Sketch, Miro, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, or others
    • Knowledge of Section 508 and W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines
    • Experience working with teams embracing Agile DevSecOps principles
    • Strong skills with User Centered Design (UCD) methods
    • Able to work with a balanced team approach sharing context and decisions
    • Able to work with the Product Manager (PM) to iterate on the backlog
    • Flexible with dynamic changes to the product
    • Excellent management, communication, and presentation skills
    • Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with a varying of skillsets
    • Experience working in a rapid and interactive development environment
    • UI Design, UX Design, User Experience Analyst, or Customer-Centered Design Certification

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Active Secret clearance
    • Knowledge of information security management frameworks ISO/IEC 27001 and/or ISO/IEC 27005 and/or an (active) CISSP certification
    • Experience with Agile teams and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs)
    • Experience with or knowledgeable about NATO's standards for security
