Accounting Clerk III
Location: Port Hueneme, CA, hybrid 2-3 remote, 2-3 on site
Description: Seeking an Accounting Clerk III to support our Federal Government client onsite.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience account keeping, reporting, and management; experience with systems such as the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP); and familiarity with the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR).
Duties include:
- Maintains journals or subsidiary ledgers of an accounting system and balances and reconciles accounts.
- Reviews invoices and statements verifying information, ensuring sufficient funds have been obligated, and if questionable, resolving with the submitting unit determining accounts involved.
- Reviews include coding transactions and processing material through data processing for application in the accounting system.
- Analysis and reconciliation of computer printouts with operating unit reports (contacting units, researching causes of discrepancies and taking action to ensure that accounts balance).
- Provide travel related support functions in the Comptroller Department.
- Review travel authorizations and travel vouchers for accuracy.
- Resolve issues with travel and other related matters by providing customer support to departments/offices and other Comptroller Department personnel.
Required Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of experience in account keeping, reporting, and management.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED. Associates Degree, preferred.
- DoD Secret Clearance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with systems such as DTS and N-ERP, preferred.
- Familiarity with JFTR, preferred.
- Very strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
- Able to use independent initiative, good judgment, and decision-making skills when setting priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
