    Team (Project) Introduction:
    The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers. Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications as well as enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics.

    An Engineer 3 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, along with engaging various parties in design and development. Costs and recommendations of new components may also involve part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer 3 oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. An Engineer 3 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems. An Engineer 3 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges.

    Functional Job (LCAT) Information:

    A Senior Database Architect has vast experience in assessing various alternative products, tools, and approaches for data management. A Senior Database Architect can clearly define risks and benefits of various approaches for a given need and create overarching design strategies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the Lead Database Architect

    • Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand and document technical requirements.

    • Collaborate with team to generate technical documentation including development planning, technical architecture, software testing and deployment process.

    • Participate in the development and execution of Change Management and Release Management Plans.

    • Provide recommendations for improvements and alternative solutions as part of an analysis of alternatives (AOA), with the goal of improving the stability, reliability and availability of the EDW.

    • Make internal and systematic changes to technical aspects as part of change management processes.

    • Participates in team calls and meetings.

    • Provides accurate and timely status reports on the progress of assigned tasks.

    • Coach and mentor team members.

    • Create and maintain documentation on processes and procedures and participate in period reviews of existing processes.

    • Provide after-hours remote support for incidents and emergencies as needed.

    • Be available on Government site in Washington DC during normal hours of operations.

    Requirements:

    • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.

    • 15 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

    • Prior experience in a federal data warehouse and understanding of government procedures and regulations is preferred.

    • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
