    Washington Schools Risk Management Pool

     

    CONSULTANT, RISK SERVICES – WSRMP

    PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The job of Consultant, Risk Services - WSRMP is done for the purpose/s of developing, training, and implementing safety and risk control programs; investigating serious incidents and accidents; and providing risk control services to participating WSRMP school districts.

     

    This job reports to Director, Risk Management - WSRMP

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    ·       Authorizes purchases of $500 or less for the purpose of ensuring expenses are within defined budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.

    ·       Complies to the WSRMP Performance Expectations, the WSRMP Respect value statement, and the PSED Principles That Guide Our Culture for the purpose of ensuring compliance with organizational objectives.

    ·       Develops and delivers in-service training programs to member districts for the purpose of reducing risk exposure and enhancing member understanding of property/casualty risks and processes.

    ·       Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization for the purpose of meeting the WSRMP’s Mission and Targeted Strategies.

    ·       Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records for the purpose of documentation for compliance with state and/or federal requirements and documenting recommendations and actions.

    ·       Participates in state, federal, and local level meetings, joint committees, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and gathering information, providing guidance and advice, assisting in the development of rules, laws and regulations (e.g. WASBO, WAMOA, Health Board, PRIMA, SS-SWAC).

    ·       Performs a variety of risk control activities (e.g. risk assessment surveys, playground inspections, loss trending analysis, etc.) for the purpose of implementing remedial programs and recommending alternative courses of action to reduce risks of loss by addressing the immediate safety needs of members, resolving problems and recommending solutions.

    ·       Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. newsletters, articles, manuals, reports, statistical analyses, recommendations, procedures, presentations, etc.) for the purpose of providing written reference and conveying information.

    ·       Provides loss prevention advice and recommendations (e.g. review of district activities, property schedules, site evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of providing timely information to reduce property hazards and limit liability exposures while adhering to state and federal guidelines.

    ·       Researches federal and state laws, building codes, health codes, and other regulations (e.g. changes in property and liability laws, rules, regulations and best practices, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulations and established standards.

    ·       Trains Risk Services staff as required for the purpose of enhancing understanding of property/casualty risks and processes and ensuring compliance with established regulations.

    ·       Utilizes fleet vehicles for the purpose of performing the essential functions of the position.

     

     

     

    OTHER FUNCTIONS

    ·       Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

    ·       Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment

    EXPERIENCE:        Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required

    EDUCATION:         Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area

    EQUIVALENCY:      Substantial loss control experience may substitute for BA Degree; or Certification in safety or loss control, such as ALCM or CSP may substitute for BA Degree
