Waste Specialist
Momentum Environmental Solutions, LLC provides vertically integrated environmental, industrial, and waste processing services to leading industries in the northeast. The Waste Specialist works closely with Momentum’s leadership, field teams, and customers to ensure technical portions of projects are performed safely, on time, within budget and to the greatest degree of quality possible. The Waste Specialist is responsible for the technical component of waste processing and environmental services and reports to the Director of Operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Is an active participant in the company’s health and safety program.
Serves as a subject matter expert on waste management projects and serves as a resource for the field teams performing waste management, environmental sampling, and technical reporting.
Maintains responsibility for the technical components of waste services profiling and characterization, pricing, third party vendor coordination, environmental media sampling and professional reporting.
Maintains routine contact with specific waste projects and continually updates on changing conditions.
Supports the sales team by providing proposal development and participating in “get work” activity as necessary.
Performs estimating and proposal writing for select projects.
Performs routine financial analysis of assigned waste projects.
Tracks the performance of assigned project tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Works closely with other departments and other locations improve H&S, logistics and quality elements of projects.
Identifies potential problems and implements solutions in cooperation with other leaders
Coordinates and reports daily to operations and project management.
Reviews and approvals of waste materials into the company's facilities and Transportation 10-Day network.
Reviews waste profiles submitted by customers or Momentum sales/operations staff to ensure accuracy and completeness
Reviews all applicable backup documentation including SDS, analytical data, pharmaceutical formularies, site history, or other information relevant to the proper characterization of the material
Provides regulatory review of EPA, DOT, and State designations
Provides clear and detailed explanation to Momentum staff and customers as to what is needed to obtain the waste profile approvals
Supports the approval of rejection of waste profiles for Momentum’s permitted waste processing facilities and/or Transportation 10-Day locations
Responds to sales inquiries related to pre-approval information (i.e.. Processing Methods for initial pricing)
Works to approve materials within the Company’s turnaround time goals
Ensures waste materials are acceptable within limitations of Momentum’s permits and if not acceptable at the requested facility, actively seeks alternative options with assistance of operational and sales staff
Ensures approval of an inbound profile is not finalized without having an approved outbound profile
Once all applicable pre-approval tasks are completed and/or satisfied, approves profile in Momentum’s waste management software and records all supporting information.

Work Environment:
While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works in a variety of environments, and is required to see, talk, hear, reach with hands, stand, walk, drive frequently, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Essential duties require bending, squatting, and twisting frequently. Employees will frequently be exposed to dirt, dust, and fumes.
Noise level of the environment is generally moderate but may vary depending on customer site visits. Occasionally may be required to lift/move up to 75 lbs.
