We are currently seeking a seasoned Water Resources Director with deep expertise in surface water management to lead and grow our water resources practice. This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide complex hydrologic and hydraulic projects, mentor a team of skilled engineers, and play an integral role in business development and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage surface water-related projects, including flood hazard identification, mitigation, watershed planning, and FEMA studies.
- Direct the development of Area Drainage Master Studies/Plans (ADMS/P), sediment yield analysis, river mechanics, stream stabilization design, and transportation drainage.
- Oversee and review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including both 1D and 2D systems; experience with FLO-2D is essential.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers; review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation.
- Conduct quality control reviews of floodplain mapping, watershed models, hydraulic structures, and open/closed conduit systems.
- Collaborate with clients, present solutions, and manage expectations to ensure project success.
- Lead business development efforts including marketing, proposal writing, and client engagement.
- Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or ability to obtain certification within six months.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, including leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success in project management, team leadership, and client relationship building.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical material to clients and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong experience with FEMA processes and documentation.
- Proficiency in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools, including FLO-2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and similar platforms.
- Previous experience in business development and winning water infrastructure projects.
