    Position Summary: JMT is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join the Hunt Valley Water Resources group. The Project Engineer II be responsible for leading tasks and subtasks related water resources engineering analysis and design using basic project management and advanced knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. The Project Engineer II will coordinate with design and other project engineers to efficiently complete project goals delivered on schedule, budget, and of quality.

    Compensation for this position is $120,000.00 - $154,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Analyze and design storm drainage systems
    • Analyze and design stormwater management practices
    • Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis
    • Develop Erosion and Sediment Control plans
    • Perform inspection and assessment of constructed stormwater management practices
    • Complete permit applications for state and local agencies
    • Utilize general engineering principles and practices daily
    • Develop construction cost estimates
    • Prepare engineering documents for advertisement and construction
    • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
    • Technical oversight and guidance/support of Design Engineers within department

    Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design software
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Written and oral communication skills

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources from an ABET accredited engineering program
    • Professional Engineer License
    • 8+ years of experience in Water Resources Engineering
    • Water Resources engineering design experience in Maryland and/or District of Columbia preferred
    • Hydrologic Modeling experience using TR55 / TR20 and Rational Method
    • Storm drain design experience
    • Stormwater Management design experience
    • Erosion and Sediment Control design experience
    • Proficient with Microstation and/or AutoCAD
    • Open Roads Designer (ORD) experience preferred
    • HEC-RAS experience preferred

    Working Conditions

    • Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
    • Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
    • Position may require on-site work at Clients’ office in Baltimore/Washington, D.C. metro area for multiple days per week.
