    POSITION PURPOSE

    Assist in maintenance of the fleet and grounds by operating specialized equipment and performing minor repairs on the fleet to ensure the integrity of the bridge infrastructure.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Operate specialized equipment including but not limited to a street sweeper, moveable barrier machine, impact attenuator truck, line painter and vac-truck.
    2. Assure specified areas are maintained in an orderly condition in accordance with Authority standards.
    3. Operate motorized equipment and vehicles in a safe manner following all laws pertaining to New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
    4. Report unusual conditions and take corrective actions as assigned.
    5. Operate radio equipment under FCC guidelines for intra-facility use.
    6. Responsible for HAZMAT containment and disposal.
    7. Perform minor repairs on the fleet for all departments (including snow equipment, tractors, police vehicles and other grounds equipment).
    8. Operate automotive shop equipment including (Hydraulic lift, tire machine, tire balance, torch, and anti-freeze recyclable machine.
    9. Operate all grass cutting equipment.
    10. Coordinate, with the Foreman, the activities of outside contractors performing tasks at the facility.
    11. Operate snow removal and de-icing equipment.
    12. Perform manual labor for the Maintenance, Electrical, Auto, and HVAC Technicians and assist Technicians in the performance of their duty assignments.
    13. Participate in a variety of maintenance work on buildings, grounds, toll lanes and roadways such as; mowing, sweeping, cleaning grounds, painting curbs, sealing cracks in roadway and general work as assigned.
    14. Participate in MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) on and off of bridge property.
    15. Perform daily check on containment area for HAZMAT material. Prepares reports for Environmental Advisor. Enforce HAZMAT containment and disposal requirements.
    16. Monitor the fuel system and generate weekly and monthly reports.
    17. Prepare clear and concise departmental reports, as required, for work activities.  
    18. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

     

    THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION AND IS SUBJECT TO ALL PROVISIONS OF THE DRPA/PATCO’S SUBSTANCE ABUSE TESTING AND CONTROL POLICY INCLUDING RANDOM DRUG TESTING AND PERIODIC PHYSICAL TESTING REQUIREMENTS AND THE FEDERALLY MANDATED CDL DRUG AND ALCOHOL RANDOM TESTING REQUIREMENTS.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    DESIRED:

    • 5 years operating specialized equipment and heavy duty equipment, small engine repair or related vocational training.

    KIND OF WORK KNOWLEDGE:

    • Must be able to operate one or more pieces of equipment of a specialized character. Must be able to operate all kinds of standard motorized equipment.  Must have mechanical aptitude

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit 10%. The employee is required to stand and walk 70% and lift, climb, bend 20%. The employee must occasionally lift, hold, and carry objects up to 50 + pounds and walk, stoop, crawl, climb stairs, steps and ladders, etc. while carrying weighted objects. Have normal day and night time vision, corrected or uncorrected.  Have normal hearing, corrected or uncorrected.  Must be able to perform all position functions.  Must be able to physically operate all job related equipment for the position functions.  The employee must maintain a neat and clean appearance.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    REQUIRED:

    • 12 years general education or GED.
    • 2 years operating specialized equipment and heavy duty equipment.
    • Must have and maintain a valid class A or B CDL license with air brakes and Tanker Endorsement from their state of residence.
    • General knowledge of automotive and equipment repairs.
    • Must pass DRPA Construction & Maintenance Mechanic test.
    • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Qualifications

     

    • 5+ years’ experience in accounts payable preferred
    • Associates/Bachelors degree a plus
    • Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint 8 a plus
    • Experience with government contracting preferred
    • Experience with Concur a preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Strong organizational skills; must be detail oriented
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Open to change and willing to learn new skills
    • Ability to follow up on pending issues
