    Job Description

    Great opportunity to join the most well respected fiber splice team in the Northeast! Waveguides' splice department is the "go-to" for expert fiber characterization, splicing and testing! And we are hiring and training another team of first class splicers for work throughout the New England area. The apprentice will be based out of our Nashua NH facility and will predominantly travel  and work in the greater Boston area, but must be flexible to work in western MA, throughout NH, ME, CT, and more.

    Fiber Optic Technician, Apprentice - Waveguide Solutions LLC

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    With a clear roadmap on how to become a Senior Fiber Splice Technician, the apprentice will learn the following skills.

    • Solid understanding of multiple OSP/ISP splice enclosure by various manufacturers.
    • Completed training or immersion into one or more specific customers’ needs and demonstrate responsibility for those needs
    • Ability to demonstrate cable prep/single and mass fusion splicing and termination abilities.
    • Excellent fiber optic test and troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
    • Be able to troubleshooting abilities to include fiber characterization, iOLM and advanced documentation and deliverable responsibilities.
    • Have a basic understanding of and abilities to negotiate ARC/GIS, Telvent and Trimble software
    • Ability to understand that due to the nature of the job, travel, night, weekend and holiday work, to include on-call responsibilities at a higher level, will be a requirement.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must possess the ability to perceive difference in colors.
    • Must be able to pass a Background Check, and Drug Screens
    • Must possess and continue to possess a valid driver’s license and pass random driver’s license screenings
    • Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification
    • Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT Physical
    • Show up for work daily and on time
    • High School Diploma required; advanced degree in fiber optics, electrical, or engineering desired
