    TECHNICAL WRITER/INFORMATION DESIGN

    Wavetronix, the global leader in radar-based vehicle detection technologies, is seeking an individual who will work as part of our technical writing team to create training documentation and presentations for hardware and software products. The right person for this role will have strong communication and design skills as well as an interest in technical writing, document layout, and information design. He or she will interface with personnel across the company to gather information for use in internal and external training documents and presentations.

    A successful technical writer/information designer will accomplish the following:

    By the end of the first 6 months

    • Become familiar with the department style guide.
    • Become certified in product technical training.
    • Use Adobe applications to create image and animation assets.
    • Help to edit and maintain current documentation and presentations.
    • Participate in personal development training.

    By the end of the first year

    • Demonstrate proficiency with Adobe applications.
    • Develop good communication skills amongst team members.
    • Travel to training events to assess the learning experience.
    • Make recommendations about new educational technology based on analytics and feedback.
    • Take full responsibility for writing new text; oversee documentation and presentation projects from beginning to end.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

    • Degree in English, information design, graphic design, or related field (or comparable experience as a technical writer).
    • Good communication skills; ability to organize and simplify information.
    • Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling.
    • Ability to work well with others and take direction.
    • Comfortable interacting with other departments to gather information.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

    • At least 1 year of technical writing and/or graphic design/information design experience.
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
    • Familiarity with software and technology.
