TECHNICAL WRITER

Wavetronix, the global leader in radar-based vehicle detection technologies, is seeking a technical writer who will work as part of a three-person technical writing team to create and maintain documentation for hardware and software products. The right individual for this role will have strong writing and communication skills and an interest in layout. He or she will interface with personnel across the company to gather information for use in internal and external documents.

A successful technical writer will accomplish the following:

By the end of the first 6 months

• Become familiar with the department style guide.
• Help to edit and maintain current documents.
• Participate in personal development training.
• Become certified in product technical training.

By the end of the first year

• Represent the company in quality audit visits.
• Take full responsibility for writing new text; oversee documentation projects from beginning to end.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Adobe InDesign.
• Develop diagram and figure creation skills.

Required Experience and Competencies

• Degree in English, writing, or related field (or comparable experience as a technical writer)
• Good writing skills; ability to organize and simplify information
• Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling
• Comfortable interacting with other departments to gather information

Desired Experience and Competencies

• At least 1 year of experience writing professionally
• Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Familiarity with software and technology
