  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Fire Alarm Designer is responsible for the layout, design and CAD renderings of life safety alarm systems and related projects. This role facilitates reviews of initial designs of all levels of complexity to provide value-engineered and code-compliant solutions where required. The Fire Alarm Designer also completes detailed calculations to verity system design meets code and standard requirements. Ultimately, the Fire Alarm Designer acts as design lead ensuring projects are compliant, meet all regulations, and remain profitable.

    • Completes fire alarm drawings utilizing current NFPA standards, project specifications, manufacturers recommendations, and best practices from the industry.
    • Works closely with the Sales, PMs, and Technical staff to interpret project specifications.
    • Has strong working knowledge of AutoCAD for the purpose of engineering and application of fire alarm and suppression systems.
    • Familiarity with several different types of product lines and related parts.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of advanced fire alarm design experience (high-rise, smoke control, Voice, etc.)
    • Demonstrated ability in drafting/CAD, computer skills estimating/pricing.
    • Proficient in reading and understanding architectural and electrical diagrams.
    • Knowledge of multiple electronic building systems.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business or related field of study.
    • Experience in Fire Alarm, Security, CCTV, and/or Construction Industry.
    • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
    • Strong collaboration and team work skills.
    • Hands on experience with project management tools.
    • NICET Certification Level II, or Level I with Level II attainability.
    • Ability to obtain appropriate licenses required by national, state and local codes.
