We are looking for an experienced staff accountant with payroll experience to join the Accounting team in our Buena Park office. Duties and Responsibilities: Office and Accounting Administration (45%) * Reconcile credit card statements * Support accounting and budgetary procedures * Track and process incoming deliveries * Coordinate office activities and operations to promote efficiencies * Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial and other data Payroll (40%) * Review all timesheets, make corrections and obtain approvals as needed * Run weekly payroll reports for review and verify for accuracy * Enter Prevailing Wage hours in payroll batch, report CPR to DIR and client if requested * Account for payroll journals on tax spreadsheet * Process ACH file and upload, process all manual checks * Pay and post payroll taxes biweekly, quarterly, and yearend * 401k administration which includes, running weekly reports, uploading files, and making applicable changes in payroll system. Track annual file with all 401k happenings * Responsible for processing of per diem, garnishments, credit card deductions and expense reimbursements * Enter and update pay changes, address changes, deductions (voluntary and involuntary), tax exemptions, etc. as needed * Process new hires, terminations, and agency employees for per diem in payroll system Fleet Administration (15%) * Update GPS as changes occur * Review and prepare fleet and fueling reporting * Monitor charges to identify and dispute fraudulent charges Required Skills and Abilities: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate * Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality * Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software * Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and payroll system Education and Experience: * 3+ years processing payroll * Excel experience (vlookups & pivot tables) * Experience in certified payroll and prevailing wage not required, but a plus. * Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus Physical Requirements: * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
