POSITION SUMMARY
The Machinist supports Toolmakers and Production Departments to ensure all tooling, dies, fixtures,
and machinery are operational and to specification to support component part production. Essential
duties include:
Building and repairing tools, dies, and components
Designing, building and servicing fixtures for secondary operations
Building custom gaging for production based on simple hand drawings and verbal instructions
Servicing wearable machine components to support production
Cleaning and storing tooling appropriately
Setting up and safely operating all manual toolroom equipment; 3-axis mill, surface grinder, lathe, band
saw, drill press, belt sander, jig grinder, centerless grinder
Completing Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks on all toolroom machines and equipment
Performing insert changeovers on family tools/molds
Building standard machine components using controlled Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's);
includes Goosenecks, pots, couplers, brackets, etc. for in-house diecast machines
Assisting Toolmakers on jobs and projects, as-required
Following design specifications, drawings, part prints, etc. and complete all work to close tolerances –
high precision machining to +/-.0005” required on precision tooling
Following all systems to clearly record, document, and file all work performed on job-specific tooling
Adhering to Fielding Manufacturing's ISO 9001 systems to achieve quality standards and promote
operational excellence
