So, what will the Weapons Technician and Maintenance Specialist at Terrestris do?

The mission of Pu'uloa Range Training Facility (PRTF) is to support the training and qualification of military personnel in both rifle and pistol marksmanship. PRTF ensures readiness by facilitating annual qualification ranges, assisting in Combat Marksmanship Coaches (CMC) and Combat Marksmanship Trainers (CMT) courses, and supporting four marksmanship competitions annually. Each week following a range, all weapons fired require reinspection, regular maintenance, and possible repair. As the Weapons Technician and Maintenance Specialist you will provide direct technical and logistical support to the Pu'uloa Range Training Facility (PRTF) at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) including the maintenance, inspection, repair, and inventory management of a wide variety of military small arms and support weapons systems. The Specialist ensures all weapons are maintained in optimal working condition, in accordance with U.S. Marine Corps standards and applicable safety protocols.

What does a typical day look like for the Weapons Technician and Maintenance Specialist?

You will:

• Create and maintain tracking of round counts, inspections and conduct maintenance support for all weapons contained within the PRTF armory.
• Perform weapons maintenance such as overhaul, cleaning of weapons and components, inspection of weapons prior to and post firing events, identification of defects, and repair.
• Disassemble weapons, examine critical parts for wear or damage using appropriate Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment, obtain needed replacement parts, and reassemble the weapon per the applicable Technical Manual (TM).
• Complete applicable forms and documents required for repairs to provide to PRTF armory personnel for requisition.
• Provide a detailed analysis of the effects of using different ammunitions and the use of suppressors on weapons.
• Assist with the issuance, turn-in, and accountability of weapons and weapon accessories for training exercises.
• Support armory operations including weapon storage, security procedures, and inventory control.
• Coordinate with Range Control and training units to ensure readiness of weapons in support of scheduled exercises and qualifications.
• Participate in audits, inspections, and readiness evaluations as required.
• U.S. Marine Corps MOS 2111 (Small Arms Repairer/Technician) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) or other military logistics systems.
• Working knowledge of DoD weapons security and accountability standards.
• Experience supporting range or training facility operations.

What qualifications do you look for?

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A foundational certification in small arms repair from a reputable gunsmithing school or military equivalent.
• Proof of Graduation from a nationally recognized gunsmithing school that includes specific training modules on the disassembly, assembly, inspection, and repair of AR-15 platform rifles (of which the M4 is a variant) and/or the SIG Sauer M18 pistol OR Qualification though a relevant United States Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) related to small arms repair; documentation of MOS qualification is required.
• Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with weapons handling.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, outdoor training environment.

We are extra impressed by folks with:

• U.S. Marine Corps MOS 2111 (Small Arms Repairer/Technician) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) or other military logistics systems.
• Working knowledge of DoD weapons security and accountability standards.
