YouTube's user base is growing and changing, which presents unique challenges and opportunities to support over a billion users globally. Fast-paced, dynamic, and proactive, the YouTube Trust and Safety team and Copyright & Legal team provide scaled support to keep YouTube safe for the 2+ billion viewers, creators, and advertisers. The team provides scaled, effective reporting for the YT trust and safety operations and driving actionable insights for future investments.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for driving the integrity and completion for our crucial workflow data. You have technical aptitude and are able to handle large data sets with facility, but can also patiently work through individual issues. You are comfortable analyzing the key causes of data integrity and duplication issues and driving processes/systems that solve these issues. Most of all, you have a commitment to providing internal and external YouTube customers with the best possible experience.
As a Business Analyst TVC, you will support the key operational priorities of one of the YouTube Analytics teams. In this position, you will build, monitor and maintain relational tables, develop and maintain metrics and dashboards, and use data to inform and improve the quality of our processes. Your work will enable visibility into the overall health of our operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and enhance data pipelines, workflows, and queries based on large data sets.
Build, monitor, and maintain reports, dashboards, and tools to analyze and monitor performance and health.
Execute ad hoc analyses that translate data into actionable insights for TnS Operations.
Perform structured root cause analyses on fluctuations in operational metrics
Report to business partners regarding monitored trends in YouTube operations
Streamline operations with quick and easy automation solutions
Learn and use Google-based internal tools like Google SQL, PLX [dashboarding tool] and Google Sheets.
Assist with data on experiments, testing and auditing new or existing workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
4+ years PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE WITH SQL, reporting tools and advanced spreadsheet skills
Strong grasp on data structure and data integrity issues.
STRONG WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Attention to detail and work ethic for dealing with a variety of data issues
Experience in business, financial, or operations analysis
Able to thrive in the hands-on, high-growth environment of YouTube
Aggressive problem solver, curious for challenges as opposed to committed to reproducing former structures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE WITH GOOGLE PROPRIETARY TOOLS PREFERRED
Experience writing and maintaining ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources
Experience in spreadsheet software: Excel, Google Spreadsheets, etc.
Familiarity with data-visualization tools, i.e. PLX, Tableau.
Ability to work with and merge large data sets (more than 50k rows.).
Familiarity with Internet policy and regulatory environments.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize information to see the big picture while effectively managing smaller details.
