Abacus is looking to hire a Weeder (Sorter) in the Syracuse, NY area.

The Weeder is responsible for removing backing to deliver high-quality output that meets production standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, consistency in quality, and the ability to work effi ciently within a fast-paced production environment. The operator will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement, maintain safety standards, and ensure on-time delivery.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Follow directions and order sheet according to job specifi cations.
• Ensuring correct materials and quantities are used and moved to the next work station.
• Monitor print quality and make necessary corrections to maintain accuracy and consistency..
• Track production output and report any issues affecting quality, productivity, or delivery to leadership.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety and environmental guidelines.
• Ensure a daily task list is completed and concerns are communicated with management.
• Perform daily housekeeping to keep the machine in perfect working condition.

Quality Assurance & Collaboration:

• Inspect prints for defects, and adherence to customer specifi cations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of quality checks and production data.
• Work closely with supervisors, and quality teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment on priorities and production goals.

Workspace Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company standards.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks such as removing debris, and organizing tools.
• Ensure all safety guards, labels, and protective equipment are in place and properly used.
• Follow 5S practices to maintain effi ciency and reduce waste.
• Perform daily cleaning maintenance

Tool & Skill Application:

• Use weeding tools, and measurement devices to ensure accurate output.
• Apply troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
• Demonstrate strong aptitude and understanding of operations.
• Adapt to new technologies and processes as the department evolves.
