****GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Personal Care Attendant provides non-medical in-home support and companionship to clients, assisting with activities of daily living, homemaking tasks, and promoting independence while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday Mornings from 9:00AM-12:00PM assisting a non-ambulatory client with assistance getting ready in the morning. He utilizes a lift, needs assistance with personal care and bathing, using the restroom, and assistance getting dressed and in wheelchair. Other duties such as light housekeeping, laundry as-needed, and meal preparation may be required.
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIRED TRAINING:
No medical license required. Must have completed caregiver or personal care attendant training as required by the state of Indiana and the agency. Knowledge of safe transfer techniques, infection control, and basic personal care preferred. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Maintains compassionate, respectful communication with clients, families, and agency staff. Reports directly to the assigned supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires the ability to assist clients with personal care and mobility. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, perform household tasks, and work on feet for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in client homes and community settings. Conditions may vary depending on client environment. Exposure to household pets, smoking, or other variables may occur.
