Weinstein & Riley is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to work on our Litigation Team. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker who thrives on challenges, and constantly seeks to be more efficient. Our team members must balance being detail-oriented with productivity and efficiency.
As our Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for producing and filing case documents in Texas courts. Documents include post-judgment applications, executions, abstracts of judgment, and service documents. You will work with attorneys, courts, and team members on a large number of cases as they progress through all stages of post-judgment litigation.
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:
Follow-up and verification of service of process
E-filing documents on court websites
Drafting of pleadings such as hearing notices, motions for continuance, and Business Records Affidavits
Managing hearings calendar for an attorney, including calling courts, pleading preparation, and case verification
Handling cases in various stages of litigation while adhering to strict deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS:
-BILINGUAL SPANISH & ENGLISH
Minimum of 3+ years experience in a fast-paced legal office environment with previous experience, with related state court litigation and/or property executions preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent. Post-High School education such as a Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor's Degree preferred
Must have excellent organizational, follow-up, and case management skills
Able to adjust with shifting priorities while still maintaining organization of other responsibilities
Able to accurately type 60+ WPM
Intermediate MS Office knowledge, especially intermediate Outlook and Excel (sorting, filters)
Able to work independently and appropriately manage priorities
Very strong communication skills--both written and verbal
Must be a fast learner and willing to pick up and do any task, and learn as you go
