The public relations specialist is a proactive and detail-oriented individual who coordinates the museum's public relations efforts, promotes programs and special events, plans and produces events, and provides departmental administrative support. This person is an excellent communicator and a self-starter with at least 2 years of related experience. The coordinator reports to the head of marketing and public relations.
Salary range: $51000 - $61000 per year.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in strategizing and planning high-quality public relations campaigns for our, our brand partners, and Loop.
- Report results internally and to brands.
- Write and distribute press releases, and pitch to journalists as needed.
- Maintain a record of relevant statistics and information about recycling and reuse to assist PR pitches, and business development and account management teams.
- Devise and create accurate, engaging, and relevant content for the blog at least fortnightly.
- Assess the viability of, attend, and coordinate staffing at events.
- Ensure website content is engaging and accurate, and work with Digital Marketing Associate to optimize pages for SEO.
- Assist with communication activities.
- Be back-up a customer service associate when Customer Service Associate is unavailable.
Qualifications
- At least one year' experience in a PR role.
- Able to work to a deadline and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be thorough and detailed oriented.
- Be willing to travel interstate and internationally.
- Working knowledge of United States media
