As a Welder III, you will perform advanced welding tasks independently, with minimal supervision. Tasks such as joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. May prepare the materials and set up a welding device. Duties/Responsibilities: • Check welding equipment for proper operation. • Set up a job for welding. • Obtain and position clamps. • Prepare welding wire for feeding. • Level frame for welding, and determine proper welding spots, types, and sizes given stress requirements. • Operate arc and heliarc welding equipment to weld cabinets and everything else that is required in a cabinet. • Use wrenches, ratchets, grinders, and hand tools as needed. • Service and maintain welding equipment. • Clean and maintain the work area. • Work primarily with other welders. • Responsible for consistently meeting quality and production standards. • May assist sheet metal, fabrication, grinding, and assembly work crews as needed. • Must consistently and properly wear proper PPE. • Operate Heliarc to weld copper and stainless steel. • Weld aluminum.
