Title: Welder
Location: South Windsor, Connecticut
Shift: 1st (6am to 2:30pm, M-F)
Salary: $30-$39/hr
Welder Responsibilities:
- Pipe welding and fitting, GTAW (Tig) and GMAW (Mig)
- Materials including steels, stainless steels, and aluminum
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on job orders
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
About You:
- Drawing reading capability including dimensional and welding symbols
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
- Familiarity with band saws, cutoff wheels, grinders, and weld prep tooling.
- Own standard hand tools.
- 2-3 years work experience or equivalent school experience in welding profession.
- Good understanding of inspection methods and techniques
- Must be able to read/interpret blue prints and have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Fork lift operating experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Some heavy lifting required.
- Fabrication tooling knowledge( drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, belt sander)
