  • Responsibilities

    **DESCRIPTION: **At TOG, the Welder is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining paint racks to ensure optimal performance and longevity in our Custom Coating Department (OCC). A successful Paint Rack Repair Technician utilizes welding, grinding, and various repair techniques to restore and maintain this vital equipment in manufacturing.

    RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

    · Conduct daily inspections of paint racks to identify damage, wear, or structural weaknesses.

    · Assess the extent of damage and determine the appropriate repair method.

    · Perform welding, grinding, and other repair techniques to restore paint racks to their original condition.

    · Replace worn or damaged parts and components.

    · Apply protective coatings to repaired areas to prevent future corrosion and damage.

    · Support new rack design and build prototype racks based on engineering drawings

    · Maintain and control raw materials to perform repairs.

    · Maintain detailed records of repairs performed, parts used, part numbers, and time spent on each repair job.

    · Report any major issues or recurring problems to the Supervisor.

    · Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to schedule repairs and minimize downtime.

    · Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding the status of repairs and any additional needs.

    · Follow all Safety guidelines, protocols, and policies while maintaining a clean, organized working area .

    CORE COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

    · High school diploma or GED required.

    · Minimum of 2 years of experience in metalworking, welding, and metal fabrication techniques; certification is preferred.

    · Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.

    · Proficient experience with hand and measurement tools (Caliper, Micrometer)

    · Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    · Successful track record in adapting to changing circumstances.

    · Must be able to perform all physical duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Job Details:

    • Shift: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • Location: Taylor, MI – onsite, in a fast-paced plant environment
    • Overtime Available

    Salary info:

    $19 - $21 / hr
