    JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

    JOB SUMMARY: A Welding Equipment Repair Technician troubleshoots and performs maintenance on welding and cutting systems, subassemblies, and other parts. This position will be responsible for ensuring units function according to specifications or determining the cause of units’ failures by conducting a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests.

    Accountabilities: · Servicing welding equipment as needed to meet OEM specs

    · Reading test schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications

    · Wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used

    · Testing functional performance of systems, sub-assemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity · Preparing parts orders and maintaining stock of repair parts for repair facility · Calibrating and certifying test instruments, welding power sources, and or misc. equipment according to specifications · Connecting units to be tested to test equipment · Reading dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance · Comparing results with specifications and records test data · Analyzing test results on defective units to determine cause of failure · Replacing defective wiring and components or records defects on tag attached to unit and returns unit to manufacturer for repair · Devising test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units · Generating repair invoices through customer service · Directing customer through troubleshooting process via phone, email, and on the shop floor · Other duties may be assigned

    Education and Experience: · One-year certificate from college or technical school; three – five years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience

    · Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics

    · General understanding of electronics, electrical controls, circuitry, electro-mechanical, and mechanics · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting customer demand

    Required Skills/Abilities: · Strong verbal and written communication skills

    · Strong time management and organizational skills

    · Excellent customer service skills

    · Motivated and high energy to self-manage, implement an entrepreneurial spirit to growing the repair business

    · Will be required to attend industry specific service and repair schools / seminars as required

    Physical Requirements: · Working indoors and outdoors

    · Must be able to move compressed gas/liquid cylinders, equipment and parts; Lift 50-75 pounds frequently and maneuver 100+ pound cylinders (rolling, using a cart, etc.) · Performing work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary
