HR/PAYROLL MANAGER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Assists with all Human Resources administration and processes.
- Enforce and ensure policies and protocols related to the health and safety of all employees.
- Partners with managers and senior leaders to implement effective HR policies and practices that will support the strategic growth of the business.
- Provides advice, coaching and leadership on all human resources matters.
- Performs risk assessments and preventative strategies to reduce the organization’s exposure to legal and other employment risks.
- Originate and maintain up-to-date and accurate HRIS information for all employees: employee personnel records (wage changes, benefits, etc.).
- Prepare biweekly payroll utilizing Quickbooks and a web based time keeping system.
- Acts as a resource person in the interpretation of employment law, legal contracts and policies relating to all aspects of human resources management.
- Works with managers to investigate and resolve employee relations issues.
- Provides labor relations support including collective agreement interpretation and handling of grievances.
- Initiates and manages the consistent implementation of various initiatives involving staffing, individual and team performance, organization design, employee and labor relations, and leadership development.
- Facilitates and works with direct supervisors or managers on employee reviews/performance reviews
- Assesses current training programs and makes recommendations on developing programs, including leadership development, professional development, and performance management.
- Serves as a resource for all employees to discuss all human resource related issues.
- Becomes familiar with and complies with the company’s Health & Safety Manual.
- Stay current on new developments with any Cal/OSHA and/or Local/State/Federal guidelines (e.g., Travel quarantine orders by state, Social Distancing order) as it pertains to COVID-19.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Senior Manager of Recruitment.
- Supports the new hire onboarding process.
- Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
- Support administration of health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Files documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
HR/PAYROLL MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
- At least 5-7 years of HR Manager Experience Required
- A Bachelor's Degree in a field such as Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field Required.
- SHRM designation HIGHLY preferred.
- 4+ years of full-cycle payroll responsibilities.
- Strong Knowledge of Quickbooks Required
- Previous labor relations experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and California Labor Regulations
- Track record on establishing relationships with all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively as well as adapt to quickly evolving environment.
- Strong background in performance management and demonstrated coaching expertise.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations practices, law & regulations.
- Proven experience in employee investigations, disciplinary actions and conflict resolution.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress
- Critical thinking and sound judgement required
