Director- Operations- Perioperative Services-WellSpan Health and Surgery Center
The Director of Operations for the new WellSpan Health and Surgery Center in Hanover PA, presents a perfect opportunity for a proven leader in perioperative services to showcase their talents.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of administrative and fiscal functions including, but not limited to, planning, public relations, budget and finance, personnel, marketing, purchasing and general administrative services, to ensure successful operation of the ambulatory site. Works in close association and collaboration with Gettysburg Hospital executive leadership and Ancillary Service Line leadership to coordinate and advance perioperative services at the WellSpan Health and Surgery Center (WHSC)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
THE FOLLOWING ARE ESSENTIAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1 Directs and manages financial performance and administrative and technical functions and activities of WHSC departments.
2 Co-directs WHSC perioperative operations in conjunction with the WHSC Nurse Manager.
3 Responsible for leading, tracking and reporting, of WHSC Operating Plan objectives as appropriate.
4 Monitors entity activities, recording and reporting statistical data, including financial data, to determine profitability and identify areas for improvement.
5 Participates in the development and maintenance of dashboards reporting key performance indicators.
6 Collaborates with corporate Supply Chain and Nursing Operations Director to direct the materials/supply functions for WHSC Perioperative areas. Includes evaluating/analyzing the use of supplies, medication, equipment, etc. to maintain cost control and savings.
7 Participates in the development and marketing of current and new facets of the service as needed.
8 Collaborates with clinical/patient care areas (nursing units, etc) and provides administrative/business support as needed.
9 Collaborates with other System leaders in the operation of facility/service line.
10 Participates in the oversight of service line space/block utilization, resources and equipment.
11 Participates in, provides leadership to, and recommends improvement opportunities for the service line’s lean/VAT efforts.
12 Works in close association and collaboration with Gettysburg Hospital executive leadership and Ancillary leadership to coordinate and advance perioperative services at WHSC.
THE FOLLOWING ARE COMMON EXPECTATIONS:
13 Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
14 Directs and manages the preparation and implementation of the annual operating and capital budgets for WHSC Peri-operative areas. Monitors expenditures, tracks performance against budget, and completes monthly variance analysis.
15 Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
16 Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
17 Develops, establishes, and implements goals, objectives and policies and procedures for WHSC Peri-operative areas which guide and support the provision of services.
18 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or business administration required
Prefer a Master's degree
Required Experience
At least 3 -5 years of experience in leadership
Experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center preferred
