  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    The Access Center Clinician assists with initial triage and assessment, provides clinical oversight, facilitates the admissions process and serves as a resource about internal and external services. Assists with security and patient behavioral management, and provides crisis intervention services.

    Required Skills

    • Requires interpersonal skills, both verbal and listening, to manage patient admission interaction, and to advise, counsel, and lead employees in compliance with policies. In addition, the ability to provide counsel on sensitive patient matters and act in a public relations capacity on various issues is required.
    • Analytical ability is required to determine appropriate solutions to crisis calls and service inquiries.
    • A moderate level of physical effort is required such as walking, standing, and assisting patients. Occasionally, may require a high level of physical effort to assist in restraining an agitated patient.

    Required Experience

    • A master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field required.
    • Must have upon hire or obtain certification as security officer through the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security at the Basic Training level within 8 weeks of employment. Current certification must be maintained.
    • Minimum of two years’ work experience in behavioral or mental health field. Work requires a level of work experience necessary to provide active leadership, handle sensitive crisis interventions, determine appropriate solutions to service inquiries, and conduct thorough intake interviews.
