    General Summary:
    Under general supervision, provides prehospital/ preoperative assessment services to patients. Manages the preoperative pathway for patients by performing a variety of duties such as screening of patient to determine patient need for additional consultation (e.g., social work, anesthesia, finance); completion of prehospital/preoperative preparations (i.e., medications, treatment); and providing preoperative education.


    Duties and Responsibilities:
    The following are essential job accountabilities:
    1 Reviews patient charts and medical records.
    2 Conducts assessment interviews.
    3 Determines patient need for additional prehospital/preoperative consultations such as anesthesia, social work, insurance/finance and physical/occupational therapy.
    4 Provides preoperative instruction to patient and family members.
    5 Communicates and coordinates with appropriate physicians, physician offices and hospital personnel to ensure efficient and effective services to patients.

    Department Description:

    WellSpan PHAS serves patients for York Hospital, Gettysburg Hospital, WellSpan Surgical Center and WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital.  Our team works collaboratively with physician offices and anesthesia providers to coordinate the preoperative care of surgical and procedural patients.  Navigating the patient safely from office visit to day of surgery is our main focus.

    BSN required

    Pennsylvania RN license required

    5+ years of Critical Care, OR, ED and patient assessment skills required to be considered for an interview
