GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, provides and coordinates treatment and services to psychiatric patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Interviews patients and family members to obtain information about home environment, family relationships, health history, and patient's personality traits. 2 Administers medications. 3 Coordinates care of assigned patients. 4 Conducts individual or group therapy sessions. Assesses patients' progress and modifies or extends treatment program accordingly. 5 Documents current, accurate observations of care to the patient in appropriate records. 6 Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members. 7 Provides medication checks

Required Skills

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Pennsylvania. Certification in psychiatric mental health nursing is recommended.
• Knowledge of psychiatric nursing care that is normally acquired in at least one year of mental health work experience. Must be trained and able to implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention principles.

Required Experience

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Pennsylvania. Certification in psychiatric mental health nursing is recommended.
