    GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Vice President-Service Line, performs a wide variety of administrative, operational and fiscal functions including, but not limited to, planning, public relations, budget and finance, personnel, marketing, purchasing and general administrative services, to ensure successful operation and collaboration of the collective group of service lines. This position, along with the service line vice president, comprises the leadership team that assumes responsibility and accountability for the strategic, clinical, operational and administrative activities of a service line across the full continuum of care (e.g., inpatient, practice setting, ambulatory) in a manner that also ensures organizational success. Successful service line leaders will demonstrate results in performance improvement, a ready grasp of matrix management requirements, effective program development, benchmark practice and referral management, advances in patient experience, collaborate and be a team player and be able to manage within a budget.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Participates in the development, coordination and administrative support of strategic and operational plans and for the execution of the service line plan across the System. 2 Oversees all programmatic components of the service line, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements for hospital-based, ambulatory and for-profit entities/departments. Directly supervises all service line management staff. 3 Coordinates with the service line Vice President in the preparation of the annual budgets. Monitors expenditures and works with managers to ensure efficiencies within the departments and medical practices of service line. 4 Collaborates with clinical areas such as patient care units, outpatient departments and medical practices, and reviews staff performance with the advice of appropriate clinical leaders to ensure quality care. 5 Directs and coordinates administrative and technical functions of the WellSpan Medical Group (WMG) outpatient practices in collaboration with the WMG Practice Administrator and Operations Administrator. 6 Monitors program activities and, where appropriate, physician participation, recording, reporting and analyzing statistical data, including financial data, to determine levels of participation, adherence to national benchmarks and to identify and develop plans to address issues, as needed. 7 Oversees service line support services; develops and implements professional and public education programs; collaborates with community agencies, as appropriate. 8 Oversees administrative components of research activities, coordinating with WellSpan research structure and protocols. 9 Ensures compliance with contracts by all departments and entities of the service line, including not-for-profit and for-profit entities and joint ventures. 10 Oversees service line space utilization, resources and equipment; participates in analyzing and developing new ventures. 11 Consults and works with System resources to identify and obtain external funding sources for patient and other assistance. 12 Participates in development of strategies to implement new services and emerging treatment options as appropriate. 13 Oversees the analysis to determine the clinical and financial impact. If determined appropriate to proceed, works with others on implementation of the services and treatment.

    Required Skills

    Minimum Education:  Master's Degree (Healthcare related, or MBA preferred)

    5 - 8 Years’ experience leading operations service line in the healthcare industry; surgical services experience a plus

    Experience working directly Physicians, Physician Practices and Hospital Administration

    Ideal candidates have strategic planning and performance improvement experience as a leader

    Preferred experience working in a complex matrix environment ideally within a large Integrated Health Care System
