WSH is seeking a physician leader to join the WellSpan Population Health Services leadership team. The position is responsible for day to day oversight of medical utilization processes. In addition, the successful candidate will have responsibility for medical utilization policy/program development in collaboration with leaders across WellSpan Health.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
- Reports to: Senior Vice President – WellSpan Population Health Services
- Position is a 1.0 FTE leadership/administrative role
- Medical Director has direct supervisory responsibility for a team of Physician Advisors
- Focus will be on daily operations oversight with case management, nurses, and pharmacists working to determine medical necessity for benefits
- Work will include interaction with physicians from multiple specialties regarding medical necessity for benefits, collaboratively applying medical judgement, and pursuing adherence to clinical protocols
- Medical Director will provide leadership and support to clinical leaders across WellSpan Health to develop systemwide policies and procedures related to medical necessity determination
- Will maintain a daily office presence in York, PA and attend meeting as needed across the WellSpan Health region of care in South Central Pennsylvania
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MD/DO with completion of appropriate residency program
- Must possess or be able to obtain a state license current to practice medicine or osteopathy without restriction in PA
- Certified as a diplomate of an appropriate specialty board
- 3 or more years of post-residency clinical practice
- Coursework in medical utilization management and/or ABQAURP certification preferred
- Prior experience with a managed care health plan preferred
- Able to demonstrate success facilitating decisions/change in a matrixed healthcare organization
- Able to lead collaboratively with diplomacy

Required Skills
