    GENERAL SUMMARY:

     

     

    Under the general supervision of the Senior Director-Public Relations & Communications, plans and implements community relations, public relations and communication activities for WellSpan hospitals, physician practices and services within defined service regions in support of the Health System's annual and long-range strategic imperatives.  Serves as media relations liaison and onsite coordinator for the System department, identifying needs and maintaining linkages with the department's resources and staff.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

       1   Works collaboratively with hospital, medical group and other system leaders and members of the health system's Public Relations and Marketing Department to identify priorities and develop/implement annual PR, communications and community relations plans for defined service regions.

       2   Develops community relations activities and contacts which build strong relationships between WellSpan hospitals, physician practices and services and its stakeholders.

       3   Plans, manages, and coordinates the production of communication projects for internal and external audiences. Includes newsletters, publications, brochures, flyers, and related collateral materials.

       4   Manages local internal and external issues, including media relations activities, in coordination with appropriate members of the health system’s media relations and internal communications team, through development of news releases, op-eds, story placement strategies, social media posts and crisis communications activities. Serves as public information officer for defined hospital(s) and service regions and participates in all appropriate disaster planning activities in this capacity. Supports media relations at a system level as requested.

       5   Manages and assists in development and placement of local advertising/promotional campaigns in coordination with other members of the health system marketing communications team. Supports system-level projects as requested.

       6   Manages the public relations and communications staff and resources for the defined service region

       7   Plans, organizes and promotes special events, open houses and other related activities, in coordination with appropriate members of the health system’s Public Relations and Marketing Department.

       8   Develops and fosters appropriate relationships with leaders of local community organizations, health & human services agencies and professional affiliations.

       9   Serves as primary contact for web site maintenance and updates.

    10   Responsible for photography of local functions and other related activities.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION:

     

    Bachelor's Degree

     

     

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

     

    5 years

     

     

    MINIMUM FIELD OF EXPERTISE:

     

    Public Relations, Communications, Journalism
