USE YOUR STRENGTHS AS A STRATEGIC INITIATIVES CONSULTANT ON THE HEALTH CARE INNOVATION (HCI) TEAM:
ABOUT THE ROLE: Working in tandem with Keith Shah, EVP Chief Health & Innovation Officer, this high-level position will be key in synthesizing solutions to go to market with Wellmark’s health care innovation and improvement initiatives. This highly visible role will have the opportunity to curate and deliver impactful solutions to our members and provider network through intentional and ongoing collaboration with HCI officers, including but not limited to: VP Health Networks & Government Programs, VP Chief Medical Officer, VP Health Services, and VP Pharmacy Services. This position will ensure the development and monitoring of a comprehensive division plan and will incorporate the necessary process structure to drive successful execution. You will leverage your industry knowledge to advance Wellmark’s strategies and help shape the future of the enterprise. To do this, you ask the important questions: “Where is the health care industry currently? Where is it heading? How do we get there?”

Qualifications
REQUIRED: • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience. • 7+ years of health insurance or related industry experience that includes: • Business/organizational process consulting. Strong understanding of business initiatives and interdependencies. • Track record of success leading complex programs/projects through partnership with diverse teams, including senior leadership; ensures programs/projects meet quality, time, and stakeholder expectations while maintaining alignment with organizational and department strategy. • Advanced process improvement skills. Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, and the ability to develop creative solutions. • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Effectively communicates across varying levels of an organization, including to executive audiences, and facilitates meetings. • Effective consulting and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success understanding the needs of others, asking meaningful questions, influencing decisions, developing solutions, and promoting collaboration. • Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize projects, timelines, and competing priorities. Strong attention to detail. • Ability to challenge the status quo while maintaining relationships. Quickly finds common ground and solves problems. Viewed as a collaborative, trustworthy business partner. • Flexible, adaptable, and able to effectively lead others through change. Coach and mentor to others. • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED: • Master’s degree, for example, MBA, MHA, etc., or direct and applicable work experience.
Additional Information
a. Work collaboratively with the EVP and other senior leadership across HCI in developing a process for the identification, development, prioritization, and implementation of strategic initiatives to achieve division and corporate goals. Identify opportunities to continually improve and refine processes.
b. Partner with colleagues to effectively and efficiently perform job accountabilities in a manner that is seamless to EVP and other leaders.
c. Facilitate the development and planning of prioritized strategic initiatives within the HCI division.
d. Assist in the process of developing and refining key performance measures for each initiative, as well as for the preparation and review of reports that will be used to track the results.
e. Develop and facilitate the annual division planning process in collaboration with the EVP of Health Care Innovation.
f. Create a comprehensive division plan of all current/future initiatives and ensure it is continuously updated, monitored, and communicated. Report on plan progress of division initiatives as well as work that supports the corporate plan.
g. Update and maintain a roadmap of initiatives being delivered to external stakeholders.
h. Develop and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with senior leaders and business units across a variety of functions; consult with and facilitate discussion among officers and leaders across the enterprise to ensure that dependencies are captured and synergies are aligned. Connect and sequence initiatives to ensure key performance measures are met.
i. Partner with leaders to regularly review division resource assignments and capacity to enable successful delivery of division priorities and core work; identify constraints and adjust as necessary to ensure alignment to highest priorities.
j. Gather and assimilate Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) committee and workgroup initiatives to integrate with the planning process.
k. Using strong communication skills and demonstrated capability to think extemporaneously, create and present data and information to key internal and external audiences to persuade and effectively tell a story.
