    Job Description

    Goals:

    • Intervention: 100% of referrals for assessment are completed to define function/goal of behavior an aligned intervention is deployed
    • Data: 100% completed documented observations of students receiving behavioral interventions
    • Direct Service: 80% **** Students receiving services successfully graduate services and/or are on track towards their identified goals
    • In School Intervention: 80% average walkthrough score on the In school intervention walkthrough form

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

    • Assist school teams in developing objective problem statements regarding student behavioral concerns.
    • Collect data to facilitate the assessment of the function of the behavior.
    • Propose alternative behaviors and interventions.
    • Model implementation and intervene directly with the student as needed.
    • Facilitate monitoring of response to intervention with targeted behaviors.
    • Collaborate with other specialists and support staff in addressing problems with student behavior.
    • Crisis response and de-escalation
    • Comply with IDEA process requirements as applicable.
    • Assist the building administration to implement and monitor a building-wide Positive Behavioral Support system.
    • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
    • Comply with good safety and de-escalation practices.
    • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
    • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Other duties as required or assigned.

    Secondary Responsibilities and Functions:

    Proactive responses to behavior are important to the overall health and well-being of students and school culture. On occasion, there is a need for a reactive approach to supporting building behavioral and social skills. The secondary function of this job is supervising and monitoring students assigned to in-school intervention, supporting instructional processes, social-emotional skill building, and maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning

    • Provides a quiet and safe atmosphere for students assigned to in-school suspension
    • Monitors student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment for academic and behavioral skills
    • Prepare lessons and skill building activities to support with identified behavioral needs
    • Conduct screeners and assessments to support with designing interventions
    • Reviews in-school suspension policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily
    • Counsels, assists, and interacts with students for the purpose of facilitating student learning, reflection, skill development, and goal setting
    • Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development opportunities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
    • Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements
    • Reports incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to school policies and procedures
    • Responds to inquiries form a variety of sources for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or director to appropriate personnel
    • Request student assignments from classrooms teachers for students assigned to ISI
    • Communicates when students are exiting ISI and returning to the classroom (share goals/ideas)
    • Monitor and supervise students and completion of assignments

    Qualifications:

    Position requires Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, education, sociology, or related field and/or equivalent of education and experience

    Additional Information

    Work Environment

    • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends.
    • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to work location.
