    Job Description

    The Wellness Specialist , under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Supervisor, is responsible for providing patients who have a substance abuse and or dependence diagnosis or other co-occurring diagnosis a safe holistic, organized yoga, reiki, and exercise program.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Lead patients through organized group yoga and exercises classes and/or reiki services.
    • Instructs patients on safe, effective exercise to promote well-being and healthy lifestyle.
    • Visually assess patients to determine their level of ability.
    • Assist patients to achieve precise alignment.
    • Demonstrate practice and techniques.
    • Transform energy during the warm-up, build-up, and cool-down stages.
    • Motivate patients with words of encouragement.
    • Connect with patients during yoga classes through fun, intelligent sequencing.
    • Utilize pool facilities to provide organized water aerobics.
    • Conduct self in a professional, courteous manner conducive Brookdale’s mission and vision.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

    This is a part time position that will work Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 4 hours a day.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.
    • Current Yoga or Exercise Instructor certification preferred.
    • Certification in Reiki, preferred.
    • Lifeguard certification preferred.
    • Current CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
    • Exhibits capacity to interact with patients, family and Brookdale team members.
    • Demonstrates familiarity and experience with yoga and exercise techniques.
    • Has knowledge of, and experience in, the facilitation of group exercise programs.
