    TECHNICAL PRODUCT ENGINEER

    Exciting Career Opportunity to join a Global Solar Company as a Technical Inverter, Product Engineer! We are looking for an agile, energetic, self-motivated individual who loves solar and would like to make the world a better place by continuing to learn and self-improve. Must be result oriented, able to work under pressure and develop strategy around roadblocks to hit goals. Travel required 30% of the time.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Our client is seeking a PV Inverter Technical Product Engineer to join the US Team. This position will make use of knowledge and skillsets of solar product experience to provide product management of products and services in the United States. Position will be a direct communication link with salesman, customers and headquarter personnel abroad to assist with needs and support as defined below:

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage elements of the existing and future US product portfolio, commercial and utilities divisions.
    • Research, analyze and draft market requirements for existing and new products by communicating with customers and sales teams, by reading other information sources and transferring these requirements into product and roadmap proposals.
    • Present proposals to internal stakeholders to gain approval.
    • Drive new product ideas through the product development and/or system integration process. Interact with and influence other product leaders. Drive all related go to market and launch activities.
    • Follow codes and certifications as they develop; analyze their impact on the market and specific products; make recommendations to management on how to leverage these developments to the company’s benefit.
    • Communicate and train customers and sales teams in regards of product details and specifications, product advantages, product applications and product benchmark compared to competitors.
    • Support presales activities of account engagements to ensure that comprehensive designs and installation plans (turn-key solution) are developed, communicated, and managed to drive successful projects and on-going business growth and loyalty.
    • Broad based tool development (e.g., set designs and line diagrams, standard BOMs, etc.) and customized design support.
    • Understand product manufacturing processes, certification status and other product details.
    • Development of high-level capex and financial models.
    • Provide and validate content for marketing collateral material such as datasheets, technical brochures, white papers, and others.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business discipline is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
    • A self-motivated candidate who has friendly personality, great communication skills and works well in the team environment.
    • 1 to 3 years’ experience in product management, in PV, Utility, or Power systems. Experience in PV Power Electronic, String Inverter technology or Module Level Power Electronic (MLPE) is must. Additional experience in PV project or PV system design is a plus.
    • Knowledge of local electrical regulations, schemes, and grid connection requirements such as NEC, UL1741, IEEE1547 standards.
    • Experience of system simulation tools such as PVSyst, PVSol, Archellios, Siderea or PVGIS is preferred.
    • Experience interacting with sales and business development teams and B2B sales channels and working experience in direct sales to commercial and industry business is a plus.
    • Excellent technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn detailed information about the existing product portfolio and to communicate and answer technical and product related questions and topics.
    • Convincingly and effectively communicate with customers, independent engineers, laboratories, industry working groups and regulatory authorities.
    • Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with others effectively, locally, and over multiple time zones and different cultures.
    • Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills.
    • Articulate with strong writing and presentation skills in person and remotely via webinar tools.
    • In addition, this role will require strong analytical and financial capabilities, being process oriented and attentive to detail.
    • Equally comfortable to operate on-site with a system installer or in a customer’s engineering design office.
    • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
