Job Summary
The Plant Engineer is responsible for supporting the continuous operation of the Chemical Plant. This engineer will coordinate activities of the Operations group to ensure the most efficient, effective, and safe manufacture of quality products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Achieve proficiency with key manufacturing unit operations via training with operators and engineers.
Manage initiatives under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
Troubleshoot plant process issues working directly with technicians/operators.
Develops process and procedure documentation and operator training materials.
Help develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure communication and deployment of management of change procedures.
Support new product and process commercialization.
Measure product quality, process capability, and yield utilizing statistical process control techniques.
Improve process efficiencies including first pass quality, productivity, and safety.
Provide plant support by coordinating and following new products with R&D from inception through product commercialization and full production hand off to operations.
Investigate downtime causes and complete appropriate recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain and foster collaborative efforts between R&D, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Quality teams to identify, establish, and share best practices.
REQUIREMENTS
BS Engineering is required
Chemical Engineering preferred
Must understand heat transfer, fluid flow, pumping, piping, and instrumentation
Understanding of P&ID’s and schematics.
Previous experience with continuous chemical processing; within a high hazard environment is preferred
Hands on with the ability to build rapport with operating, analytical, and maintenance technicians is extremely important.
GMP knowledge preferred
Able to obtain TWIC certification.
