    Job Description

    WEST COAST SELF-STORAGE GROUP IS SEEKING A TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER FOR ITS 80 STORE NETWORK AND OPERATING TEAM INCLUDING 173 TEAM MEMBERS

    The Training and Development Manager is responsible for improving the knowledge, skills and productivity of the company’s team members. This position assesses primarily Operations developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for team members. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs, modify and improve existing programs
    • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual program assessments and consultation with mid-level and senior leadership
    • Prepare and implement training budget
    • Align training with the both short and long-term company goals
    • Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media
    • Teach training methods and skills to other team members
    • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as manuals and intranet content to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
    • Develops and manages training resources and development opportunities for store and middle management growth and development
    • Develops and maintains a resource library of reading material, external coursework and seminars available and relevant to various roles and departments in the company
    • Plans, organizes and conducts quarterly and semi-annual trainings 
    • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment for all supporting Team Groups
    • Conducts follow-up of all completed trainings to evaluate and measure results
    • Modifies programs and materials as needed on an ongoing basis
    • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
    • Works effectively with other members of the Leadership Team

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal, written and email communication skills
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
    • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
    • Ability to design and implement effective training and development materials
    • Some travel will be required within WA, OR & CA
    • Advanced skills using Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

    Experience:

    • Five years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs
    • Five years of experience in a Training and Development role
