Job Description:
West Star Aviation is seeking a dedicated and experienced AOG (Aircraft on Ground) Mechanic to join our East Alton, Illinois team. The AOG Mechanic will be responsible for responding quickly and effectively to AOG situations, diagnosing issues, and performing high-quality maintenance and repairs to return aircraft to service with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to AOG events both locally and regionally with urgency and professionalism.
Perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and return-to-service procedures in accordance with FAA regulations and OEM standards.
Accurately upload maintenance work orders and job completion details into the company system; computer literacy is essential.
Ensure proper documentation for all maintenance performed, including logbook entries, part tracking, and labor hours.
Interpret aircraft manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to conduct repairs.
Communicate effectively with internal departments and customers to provide timely updates and solutions.
Maintain and operate company service vehicles, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety and operational policies.
Remain flexible and available for travel, nights, weekends, and on-call assignments based on AOG demand.
Aircraft Experience:
Candidates should have experience or familiarity with a variety of business jets, including:
Light Jets: Phenom 300
Midsize Jets: Citation XLS/XLS+, Praetor 500, Citation Sovereign, Citation Latitude
Super-Midsize Jets: Citation Longitude, Challenger 350, Challenger 650, Citation Ascend
Large Jets: Falcon 2000EX
Ultra-Long Range Jets: Global 5000/5500, Global 6000, Global 7500
Qualifications:
Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in aircraft maintenance; prior AOG experience preferred.
Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on customer service and quality workmanship.
Proficient in the use of computers and maintenance tracking systems for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently in high-pressure situations.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening.
Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours as needed.
Work Environment:
Field-based maintenance environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stand, and work in confined spaces.
Frequent travel within the region and occasional national travel required.
