    POSITION TITLE: TRAINING MANAGER

    LOCATION: Campbell, CA

    SUPERVISOR: HR Director

    DIRECT REPORTS: None

    WORK DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm

The company has offices in Campbell, Redwood City, Salinas, Concord, Sacramento, Stockton, Chico, Fresno, Visalia and Bakersfield. The Company has more than 375 employees, many of whom are represented by one of our four unions.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Highly successful, growing underground construction company has an opening for a newly created Training Manager.

    West Valley Construction needs a training manager to organize, schedule, track and conduct training sessions for all employees ranging from job or specialized skills, soft skills, policies and procedures. Work with the Safety Department, Fleet Department and Operations to identify specialized training and outside vendors. The purpose of this position is to maintain all training records in the Company and to schedule training as needed including scheduling third-party trainers or online classes and/or personally conducting training. The Training Manager will report to the Vice President/Director Human Resources and will interact with managers and employees throughout the Company..

    • Develop an annual Training strategy and plan for the Company
    • Work with executives and managers to assess what skills need to be taught, vet and recommend vendors, and track training progress
    • Oversee trainers and/or conduct certain training personally
    • Design custom training modules as needed
    • Manage the training schedule, sending reminders to managers when employees are due for annual and mandated training
    • Maintain an up-to-date data base of all training completed
    • Identify and recommend assessment tools as needed and conduct internal assessments

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in human resource management, training and development, organizational development, business administration or related field
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a training manager preferred
    • Excellent communication skills—verbal and written
    • Outstanding presentation/training skills
    • Proven skill in developing curriculum
    • Detail orientation with ability to accurately maintain training data base
    • Proven experience as training manager
    • Ability to understand the duties and competencies of different roles
    • Teambuilding, organization and leadership skills
    • Well-organized
    • Active Listening skills
    • Good driving record
    • Working knowledge of employment law
