Westbound & Down has expanded production and is now looking to hire a new Cellar Person. This position is based out of our Lafayette production facility, home to our 3-vessel, semi-automated, 15 bbl brewhouse with tanks to produce 8,000-10,000bbls. Reliable transportation is a necessity.
We are hiring for a cellarperson with experience and a clean driving record, who is comfortable driving a 16-ft box truck occasionally, and preferably, has experience driving a forklift. Applicants must have extensive experience in tank CIP, beer transfers, beer clarification - both through fining, keg cleaning, extreme tidiness, organization and inventory skills at a minimum, as well as a passion for beer. This position will work within the brewing team to bring our beer to life in the cellaring and packaging of all our beers. All level employees work on our canning line occasionally which operates 2 to 3 days a week. Candidates must be committed to quality, an understanding of brewery sanitation and helping to create a safe work environment.
The day to day of this position will bounce between working on cellaring beer, brew sheet record keeping, dry hopping beers, yeast harvest, beer transfer and clarification, and FV and BT CIP, as well as keg cleaning, kegging and tank maintenance with current cellar workers. This shift works both in morning shifts (6am-2pm) and afternoon shifts (10am-6pm.) Please send references with a resume and note if we cannot contact your current employer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operation and basic maintenance of raw materials handling, brewhouse operations, cellar management and organization, both for the brewhouse and for the pub cooler
Accurate recording of various quality parameters
Ongoing brewery, cellar, and packaging equipment sanitation
Keep an accurate weekly inventory of beer, both finished and in production, and raw ingredients through Ekos Brewmaster software
Working on the canning line
Be flexible, agreeable, and a team player as work times and locations change as needed to produce the best beer possible while meeting production goals
Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two years of experience as a cellarworker
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
High level understanding of cellaring processes required
Commitment to being a part of a team and working for larger goals
Strong organizational, communication, and record keeping skills
Strong time management skills, an attention to details required, and strength in multi-tasking
Clean driving record and willingness to drive between locations
Self-motivated, and ability to often work unsupervised from task lists
Lab experience is a positive asset
Canning line experience is a positive asset
Good people skills and professional demeanor – public relations is a necessity in both locations
Line cleaning and pub-cooler organization required
Physical strength, flexibility and stamina required – must be able to lift 55 lbs repeatedly
Weekend availability required for production as needed (although minimal or rare as of now) as well as for beer events at any of the three locations
Work at all Front Range locations is occasionally required
Compensation will depend on skill level and experience. Salary range: $48,000-$53,000 with benefits including healthcare and paid time off.
