Are you particularly gifted at collaborating and encouraging others in their love of music? Can you think ahead, dream, research, plan, and then reach out and organize musicians? Does the idea of bringing art, faith, and nature together in meaningful ways get you excited? Does that sound like you? Cool! Here are the details Job Title - - Music Leader and Coordinator Reports To - - The Pastor Hours - - Part-time - - 10-15 hours per week. Hours are to be scheduled with the supervisor. Any additional hours require prior approval from the supervisor. Rate of Pay - - $22.00 to $30.00 per hour. Position Summary - - The part time Music Leader/Coordinator is responsible for and supports all music connected to worship for the church. This includes working closely with the Pastor in creating a vision for music to be woven into weekly services and special events bringing art, faith, and nature together. This person also serves as a member of the Music and Worship Committee of Session. It is the responsibility of the Leader/Coordinator to explore all genres of instrumental and vocal music including classical, traditional, folk, rock, rap, ethnic, and multinational. Must be supportive of the vision and mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Westminster complies with CalOSHA work place regulations for Covid-19. Qualifications: a) Must have some education in the field of music. b) Must be proficient in reading music, singing, and leading group singing. c) Must be proficient in playing the piano." d) Ability to play additional instruments such as guitar, drums, organ is helpful. e) Must be a leader to bring people of all musical backgrounds together to make music. f) Must have an open mind to think outside of the box in bringing all types of music into the music fabric of the church. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: a) Works collaboratively with the Pastor and the Worship and Music Committee to develop creative worship services in person and online. b) Creates, records, and uploads music via YouTube, Facebook, etc. for use in online worship and events. c) Sets up instrument(s) and sound system(s) for indoor and outdoor services and events, conducts sound checks, and assists in technical walk throughs. d) Plays for worship services, weddings, funerals, and special events or arranges for musicians to provide such services. e) Invites, leads and coordinates the Westminster Singers - a volunteer group of interested singers and musicians to participate in worship services. f) Coordinates bringing soloists, duets, and other music groups - both vocal and instrumental - to provide music at our weekly worship services. g) Manages musicians and conducts regular rehearsals. h) Reaches out to community groups to bring music to Westminster in the form of worship or concerts in the sanctuary or Westminster Park. This outreach includes touring groups, college musicians, high school musicians, gospel choirs, LGBTQ+ choirs, and musical theatre groups." Consults With: The Pastor, Staff, and the Music and Worship Committee Demonstrated Skills: -Leads with passion, enthusiasm, and energy. -Must have self initiative. -Must be proactive and independent in solving problems. -Must be flexible with work hours. -Must be honest and of strong integrity. -Must possess a good sense of collaboration and communication skills. -And most importantly - - must have a sense of humor.
