    GRADUATE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT - MINNEAPOLIS, MN

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC.

     

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a full-time entry-level Landscape Planner/Landscape Designer to join our Minneapolis, MN office. You will work in collaborative integrated teams of professionals that include landscape architects, civil engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and transportation engineers. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Review and interpret regulatory codes, ordinances, and comprehensive plans. • Review and analyze land features relating to opportunities and constraints for development. • Prepare due diligence analysis, land development concepts, design development master plans and graphic illustrations using both digital and hand drawn formats. • Work with senior landscape architects and senior land planners to develop and refine design solutions. • Use in-depth knowledge of woody and herbaceous plant materials in preparing planting plans and landscape master plans. • Participate in project meetings with staff, clients, & regulatory agencies. • Assist in editing technical plans, details, and specifications. • Visit construction sites to gather information, review design intent, inform and support senior project team members during the construction phase. • Consult with product manufacturers, evaluate and select construction materials. • Use in depth knowledge of entitlement procedures and required regulatory approvals.

    Required Skills

    • LA registration or working towards registration. Computer skills including AutoCAD, Sketch-up, 3DS Max, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design), Microsoft Word, MS Excel and Geographic Information System (GIS). • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills. • Technical knowledge of landscape architectural site development elements and materials. • Technical knowledge of construction details and methods. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic. • Portfolio or work samples will be required if considered for an interview.

    Required Experience

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture/Urban Design or related field. • 0-3 years of professional experience (Master’s Degree may substitute for 2 years of experience).

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (NOT REQUIRED):

    • Experience in residential and commercial land development design • Public entity work experience
