    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our team in our Minneapolis, MN office. The successful transportation and logistics engineer will perform and/or supervise traffic impact studies, infrastructure cost analysis, and public road improvement and traffic control & signage plans associated with renewable power projects. Further responsibilities include negotiating Road Maintenance Agreements and presentations to local jurisdictions as well as developing client relationships for maintenance marketing and repeat business. The successful candidate will also manage, prepare and complete a variety of civil engineering and transportation planning reports, studies and plans for large, complex projects in a timely and proficient nature to produce solutions for our client’s success. The candidate will develop an understanding of the components, materials, and scheduling necessary to construct wind and solar projects and the impacts the construction of these projects may have on public infrastructure. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and analyze transportation plans for the construction of utility-scale energy projects.
    • Develop construction traffic forecasts, using knowledge of construction methods, schedules, and material delivery logistics for renewable energy projects.
    • Lead traffic impact studies including coordination and review of pavement, geotechnical and structural components.
    • Perform logistical analysis for transport and delivery of oversize equipment on public roads.
    • Manage sub-consultant scope of work and execution of deliverables.
    • Work with project managers to scope and execute transportation and logistics analysis on multiple projects.
    • Create a satisfied and recurring client base.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
    • PE preferred, or ability to achieve PE license within 12 months.
    • Construction and estimating experience for public infrastructure projects is a plus.
    • Desired candidate will possess design experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and possess a good understanding of traffic engineering.
    • Preferred candidate will have working experience with highway standards from state and local agencies with a transportation planning background.
    • Ideal candidate will have extensive project management experience including proposal preparation, budgeting, and invoicing.
    • Experience with bridge and culvert design and maintenance programs for existing infrastructure is desired.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills including, not limited to verbal and written communication skills. Active listening and negotiation skills and ability to understand others’ perspectives is needed.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.
    • Must possess basic MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced knowledge of Excel is preferred.
    • Working knowledge of PDF-XChange, Bluebeam, or other PDF editing software tools.
