    POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Accountant position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The primary responsibility of the position is the accurate reporting of financial position in accordance with US GAAP. The position is also responsible for the safeguard of assets, the maintenance of an effective internal control environment, internal management reporting, and subject matter expertise relative to the general ledger and other financial systems.  The role is responsible for many areas beyond debits and credits.  Whether it is leading the implementation of new business software, participating on cross-functional productivity initiatives, or improving core processes, there are many opportunities to develop and grow. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

                 GENERAL ACCOUNTING

    • Meet enterprise planning and financial reporting requirements on a US GAAP basis.
    • Deliver simple, timely, consistent and insightful strategic and operational reporting & analyses.
    • Manage certain activities of accounting department including, but not limited to, account reconciliation, accruals, month-end close, financial statement preparation & analysis, daily performance reporting, proof of cash, support monthly Sales/Use Tax reporting, special projects, ad-hoc analysis.
    • Responsible for ensuring timely, accurate data availability and efficient transaction processing - in both a US GAAP and performance management environment. EFFECTIVE INTERNAL CONTROL ENVIRONMENT –
    • Lead fiduciary role that ensures internal controls are in place and effectively protect enterprise asset base.
    • Ensure compliance with controls over cash & inventory.
    • Administer system access & review segregation of duties to ensure effective controls are in place. FINANCIAL SYSTEMS SME –
    • Responsible as system administrator and SME for Sage/Intacct General Ledger system.
    • Also responsible for Concur travel expense management system.
    • Ability and experience in supporting an integrated best-of-bread systems architecture.

    Respond to changes productively and handle other duties as required

     

    Required Skills

     

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance from four-year college or university;

    • Minimum 2 years accounting experience;

    • Detailed knowledge and experience with ERP software;

    • Public Accounting experience a plus; CPA (or equivalent) preferred but not required. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Have analytical skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

    • Ability to efficiently use all Microsoft Office products. LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

    • Ability to effectively present information to customers, top management and cross-functional groups.
