    ABOUT THE POSITION:

    The librarians provide expertise, consultation and instruction on conducting research and utilizing information resources to ensure student success.

    _ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES :

    • Assists students, faculty, staff and community users in locating, evaluating and accessing materials.
    • Provides instruction on the research process and the use of information resources (both electronic and print) and associated technologies to student, faculty and staff groups, and individuals.
    • Develops instructional resources in print, electronic and multimedia formats to assist users and promote information literacy and critical thinking techniques.
    • Promotes a library atmosphere that is conducive to group and individual study and research needs.
    • Serves as a liaison to other Polk State departments
    • Assists in strategic planning and improvement and other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    • Expertise in searching and retrieving information from a variety of formats and sources
    • Proficient use of computers and the Internet including basic software programs, webpage maintenance, multimedia tools.
    • Ability to work with a diverse community and meet the needs of a variety of learning and personality styles.
    • Ability to teach and work with groups and individuals
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • This position is an on-campus position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
    • Hours for this role are Monday-Thursday 3pm- 7 pm.
    • Hours may occasionally fluctuate due to scheduling needs.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION :

    Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited school or equivalent degree.

    Required Experience

    At least one year of experience in library services is required.

    Preferred Experience:

    Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
